Heygate and the City
City of London skyline from the Heygate Estate, Elephant and Castle.
The City being the financial district in London where billions of pounds are traded every day.
Built between 1970 and 1974 the Heygate is, to some, one of the worst slums in London - Southwark council are rehousing residents ahead of demolition in 2010. Some residents are very sad to leave however and there are complaints that many are being re-housed many miles away in poor new builds.
Note the two experimental wind turbine on the block roof.
Best seen in Large. No digital altering - that's how the light was.
