Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum maximum)

The Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum maximum) is a hybrid combining the best qualities of the oxeye daisy, English field daisy and Portuguese field daisy. It was bred by American horticulturist Luther Burbank (18490-1926) and introduced to the garden world in 1901. Burbank had experimented with the flower for 17 years. They were named for California's Mount Shasta and presented an entirely new plant species
