Catasetum integerrimum

Widespread and locally common from Mexico to Costa Rica in low elevation woods and scrubland. We have even seen this species growing on Mayan ruins in Belize. Flowers present an ominous hobgoblin appearance. Pollinators for catasetums are male Euglossine bees. The bird beak structure is a sensitive trigger that when touched, shoots the pollinia at the visiting bee.
