Common Swift, male, Hepialus lupulinus, 17,

This moth occurs regularly in low numbers here in Boreham, Essex, UK from late April until early July. This worn individual was trapped on the 9th May 2102. It is a common moth across the County. The larvae feed on the roots of many grasses and herbaceous plants. It is widespread across the UK but much scarcer in Scotland.
