Magellanic Plover juvenile Chorlito Ceniciento Pluvianellus socialis
A bird that breeds on stony shores of inland lakes. In winter it can be found on seashores and tidal mudlfalts. I was delighted to see this bird on the north-east corner of Lago Cardiel off the A40 in Santa Cruz Norte, Argentina. It was blowing strongly from the south making it cold and a challenge to get photographs. Alongside were several migrant White-rumped Sandpipers in various stages of breeding plumage and a few Two-banded Plovers.
