When Tape on End of 120 Film Messes with Caffenol-C

Homemade pinhole (made from empty iPhone box) shot with Neopan Acros 100 developed in Caffenol, tone/exposure tweaked in Lightroom to "salvage" shot. First time I tried developing own film. When spooling film in changing bag I ripped tape at end of roll in half instead of removing it completely, leaving part of gummy stuff exposed during development process. Everything seemed to be going fine until dumping the fixer from tank--it was purply-pink, as were the subsequent washes. Uh-oh, what the ... ? I thought to myself. Upon inspection of film strip I realized that the gummy stuff on the tape had turned purply-pink and streaked a weird purply-pink stripe down the length of the strip along top edge. Lesson learned. UPDATE: New lesson learend: this had nothing to do with the tape gum; I simply didn't top off the tank with enough developed so the film was only partially developed! Don't even ask how that happened. I will, however, keep this title despite it being misleading....
