Tripe alamode de Caen

    Newer Older

Tripe done Caen style. Whatever that means. :) I had to order it as I like tripe and had to see what the French could do with it. Caen style turned out to be a tomatoey soup which suited the tripe very well. Big ups to the folks of Caen.

I still remember when I was about eight or nine and we went to Caen. The owner of the restaurant was very shocked that this little English girl, instead of ordering chicken nuggets, chips and beans (they had a special "Anglais" menu pour les enfants), ordered tripe. She kept poking her head round the kitchen door to check I was actually eating it.

(I came here via the Wikipedia link to this photo, in case you're wondering!)

I had no idea this photo had made its way to Wikipedia so thanks for stopping by. :)

      Did you enjoy the tripe?

Two days after this photo was taken I was in Rome and found tripe on the menu again. I couldn't resist ordering if only compare. The Romans don't do it as well. ;)

I did, I loved it. Far preferable to chicken nuggets, chips and beans!
