Wetterhorn (3701m or 3692m)

The height of this mountain has recently been revised downwards by 9m to 3692m.

Normally a summit height would be surveyed on bare rock but if there was none visible due to complete snow cover they would have to take the snow level. If the depth of snow cover over a summit is significant then over a period of years I suppose it could increase or decrease sufficiently to warrant a re-survey.

Most of my paper maps date from the late 1970s or early 1980s and comparing them with more up to date versions there are several cases of heights changing, usually by just a metre or two up or down. Nine metres, however, is significant!
