View From Moro Rock - Sequoia National Park-Explore #1 9/13/10

    Newer Older

Flickr has chosen this image as my Most Interesting and the image escalated to the Number One position on Explore.
Since wildlife is my preferred subject for photography I have other images I prefer but none have garnered this kind of attention.
There is a feeling of infinity and perhaps a suggestion of exploration that is appealing. The gradation of colors is subtle but apparent and the faint sparkle of a distant agricultural plant adds interest. This almost monochromatic scene is confined by the leaking layer of fog from above and the prominent tree-lined hill of the first row.
Had I climbed all the 375 steps to the top of this monolith as most of my fellow photographers did, I would have been IN the fog layer and missed this shot, leading me to believe that sometimes falling behind can lead to coming out ahead.

Staggeringly beautifyul, Linda - they don't come nay better than this. Explore is mostly nonsense in my view, but this certainly deserves to be top of the pile. Congrats - wish i'd seen & taken it!

Most interesting and top Explore spot because it makes one in awe of the planet we humbly inhabit.
