Noisy City II
Not my favorite, but I struggle so much the get the shot that I feel kind of forced to show it. Since I couldn’t find an unobstructed view that maximized the reflections and the buildings, I had to shoot from the Sabine-to Bagby Promenade. But I didn’t want to give so much weight to the bridge, because it probably would steal importance to the overall shot. So, as my tripod doesn’t have a vertical column I had to shoot it handheld over the banister.
For that, I had to shoot wide open, at very high ISO. Despite the camera handles high ISO pretty well, I was disappointed to see the lack of detail in the buildings and the trees. Also, the grain is prominent, so that was the main reason to go B&W. For me, grain looks really nice in this kind of underexposed monochromes. I’d love to see some ‘stars’ at the street lights, but I was almost impossible to make it under the shooting conditions, without introducing further camera shake. Definitively not for printing, but can look great as a screen saver or wallpaper.
