Another of the many things that was born in MICHIGAN.

Born in 1866 by a Detroit pharmacist. According to legend, he left a mixture of ginger, vanilla and spices sitting in an oak cask in his pharmacy. After returning from battle four years later, he opened the keg and found the drink inside had been changed by the aging process in the wood. It was like nothing else he had ever tasted, and he reportedly declared it "Deliciously different," which remains the drink's motto to this day.

Ahhhh... Vernor's! I remember drinking LOTS of that stuff when I was a kid in Ohio. Now I live in Georgia and it is virtually imossible to find, although occasionally I can get a two-liter bottle at a liquor store (of all places). Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories!

I usually only drink the stuff when I'm sick, 'cause that's what Grandma told me to do...

I like the weathered look of this sign and the retro font. Also like the way the word "Ginger" seems to be lit (from the flash?)

Cool - I drink a lot of ginger ale for my stomach (ginger is good for nausea)

Marinate your hame with Vernors! Better yet...mix it with vanilla ice cream and there you have BOSTON COOLER....(invented in Detroit on Boston Street...not in the city in Massachusetts)

The fizzy effervesence of Detroit. One can almost smell and taste the pungent ginger.
