Cauldron of Birth
While out on a long bike ride today in central Texas I took a break to hydrate. It was, as we say here, "Hotter'n Hell" and I was stricken by the intensity of light and heat at the base of this cactus. I tried to capture this light. And yet, this delicate cactus leaf was emerging at the other end of this cauldron. It struck me as profoundly ironic that something so new and fresh could emerge from the heat. It appears other-worldly to me.
