New Orleans Summer Solstice 2017
Local Environmental Groups Band Together for 4th Annual Solstice Celebration

What started as a milestone anniversary event 4 years ago for local environmental groups, has evolved into an annual shindig highlighting some of the city’s greenest organizations.
On Friday, June 23rd, Global Green, The Green Project, and Concordia, celebrated Summer Solstice 2017 in beautiful City Park with watermelon provided by Hollygrove Market and music by Bamboula Productions and Hollyrock. Free to Be Power Yoga Studios offered a complimentary yoga class to celebrate the solstice. Crude Life Portable Museum was on site for spectators to learn about biodiversity in the Gulf Of Mexico and the effects of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Guests enjoyed champagne, vodka cocktails, and beer generously donated by Republic Distributing and Crescent Crown. La Cubana by Casa Borrega and The Crepe Cart were on site at the iconic Peristyle selling delicious eats to party patrons.

Proceeds from silent auction of one-of-a-kind rain barrels painted by celebrated NOLA artists benefited Global Green and The Green Project. Artists included Jane Brewster, Jodie Flowers + Jim Furgeson, Karel Sloane-Boekbinder, Danielle Hein and Amelia Broussard.
