Nibbus Maximus
Seattle artist Jim Woodring made the public debut of his Nibbus Maximus, a seven-foot-long pen: a 5 1/2-foot body with interchangeable nibs 1 1/2-foot nibs. This wasn't just the first time he'd drawn with it in public: he hadn't yet used it really at all, beyond some tests with the nib. For someone who typically draws alone at home, he did very well with the pressure, and kept a sense of humor about him.

Why build such a pen? Because it was said it could not be done. Because it could be done.

Over a hundred people turned up for the free event at the Gage Academy of Art on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Drawing tools and paper were provided.
