Comic book style "pin-up" for an upcoming children's book. One of seven, plus a cover. Alternate retro style color version. 2012.

Lately it's been both fun and frustrating reliving my childhood dream of drawing superheroes and villains for a living for a book project. Fun because I get to channel (rip-off) my two favourite comic book artists, Jack Kirby and Bruce Timm - frustrating because although I drew superheroes non-stop from the age of 9 to 15, and worked on a number of Star Wars related comics in the late 1990s, I'm really not a comic book artist. So these take me waaay too long to make any money on.

Thanks folks. Unfortunately it's not a mass market title, but I'll pass along more info once it's closer to coming out.

Awesome! I love this comic style much more than the current hyper-realistic Photoshopped style that's currently in vogue in comic books.

Thanks Bob! I agree with you on the hyper detailed current style, although in all honesty I colored this in Photoshop as well.

Yes, but it looks like normal old school flat coloring. No blends, blurs, lens flares and all the other clap-trap that muddies comic panels today.
