IMG_4897 The waxing crescent moon

    Newer Older

A very large waxing crescent moon, only about 1% illuminated, looms low in the southwest sky as seen from Pitcher Mt. in Stoddard, NH on Oct. 9th.

Awesome! Great composition. It looks "out of this world." :)

      From Critique forum October 2010
Presence of a framing object like a pole or tree, rising mountain etc on left or right can further fortify the photograph. But then I know, you must be really lucky to find something like this at an appropriate distance.
      Beautiful moon and colors!

Okay, the exposure, and the timing are brilliant. Image could be a little sharper. You need to thnk about stopping down the lens a little bit.

Also the central composition really doesn't do it for me. I think by limiting the space on the left you give the moon space to move to the right. It gives the sense that it is getting bigger, and that means you needn't have bothered writing so much. After all that's what you are aiming to to with your photographs, that is to have them tell a story.

I don't see that wrote anything 'story like', just details of when and where the photograph was taken.
