Newtonhill low tide (P2260310)
Newtonhill, early morning panoramas. I always seem to have a hell of a job getting colours right! Long exposure. ND32 filter. I forget how many shots wide this is, but I think it was two groups vertically - above and below the horizon. Manual exposure but with different settings for each of the two groups. Tone-mapped rather than HDR from multiple exposures.
This long exposure thing is getting quite boring now. And tedious to do. Though I only used one set I still bracketted these with the intention of using HDR (the problem with that is the effect on waves and clouds). So, exposures of 15, 30, and 60 seconds, doubled because of dark frame subraction to reduce noise, is 3:30 per frame, and a panorama that's 2 high by 5 wide, so that's 35 minutes for this one result (and about 25 minutes editing, though I notice that I've missed a bit at the top!). Then there are the ones that I start but cannot finish, either because something goes wrong, or more likely because I lose my nerve in the face of the tide coming in or the waves getting higher!
Yeah, I need to move on from long exposures and panoramas!
