Encounter of the third kind
While having our picnic at the beach last Sunday I noticed some movement on one of the boulders strewn along the beach. The alien-looking creature I discovered turned out to be a sea slater - a bigger marine version of a woodlouse. I have not seen one of those before so an interesting find for us. Wikipedia tells me that they feed on seaweed, diatoms and debris with a particular fondness for bladder wrack.
