Litton Explore 26 Aug 2014

This picture of the delightful village of Litton was captured from Wilson’s Pasture which is part of Darnbrook Fell.

Littondale runs south east until it joins Wharfedale above Kilnsey. The course of the river Skirfare can be seen in the foreground. There is a section of the Skirfare which is dry in all but very wet conditions as the water disappears through various joints and fissures into the underlying limestone.

The fields in the background are part of the aptly named Black Arc which rises onto Old Cote Moor.
