Yacyretá Dam (hydroelectric power plant)

A special visit we had to Yacyreta in May, the largest power plant in Argentina placed on the Paraná river. And I think the largest in the world done on a flat land. It has 18 power turbines specially designed for its purpose.

It's a binational project between Argentina and Paraguay. Currently Yacyreta is working at 60% of its designed capacity due to the fact that if they enlarged the dam it would flood the cities nearby. My father is working in Posadas, the capital city of Misiones, as administrator of the civil construction assigned to elevate the coast level of the city in order to allow Yacyreta to work on full potential. However, as per my knowledge, Encarnación (the satelite city of Paraguay right in front of Posadas across the Parana river, is doing mostly nothing on this regard, which will mean that there will be delays in the final implementation of Yacyreta's full potential.
