Hey guys, how's the milieu there?
Wonder what they'd say about the following? I was seeking some insight as to what it's like being a construction worker, and came across a book titled Construction Workers, USA by Herbert A. Applebaum. He wrote: "Construction workers are mainly high paid skilled craftsmen. They enjoy good working conditions and they occupy a top-level position among U.S. blue-collar workers. The physical and social conditions of their work give rise to an occupational culture that stresses directness, concreteness, and having to look at reality honestly and with confidence that problems can be solved. Construction workers view the fruits of manual labor as just as worthy as intellectual labor. Construction work takes place in a milieu in which human beings are placed before machines and social solidarity is placed before occupational rank."
"Milieu" is defined as "environment" or "surroundings." Wonder why he didn't just say environment?
