Dominican struggle

Raksmeymony Yin '14 used a 10-second timer to take this picture of himself during a Center for Public Service immersion project when he was a first-year student. As part of the "Fighting for Social Justice through Dominican Music and Ritual" trip, he and nine other students traveled throughout the Dominican Republic and learned about the hidden struggles that Haitians experience there as well as the history of rituals and early slavery. They also took part in service projects. "The picture was taken at one of sites we visited -- the first sugar cane mill and the place of first slave rebellion in the Americas," Yin wrote.
