Civil War Camp Meeting

    Newer Older

This huge piece of artwork dominates the end of a wide hallway at the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum. It depicts a religious camp meeting during the American Civil War. I do not know the artist's name.

The museum currently has a exhibit of memorobilia that showcases religious faith and its impact on both sides of the conflict during the Civil War.

Thats so cool. I was there once as a girl. There were two (Im guessing 8 feet long,) low white tables in the entryway that was the exact match for my mom's coffee table. We purchased it at the Jamiel Temple Yard Sale in the 80's Were they still there? Oh yes I love history and I would like to go back to the CRR but those tables really struck me.

Pam, the Confederate Relic Room has been located in at least two prior sites before moving to a section of the S.C. State Museum at 301 Gervais Street. Originally, it was inside the S.C. State House, and later was moved to a building on the USC campus.
