The light was too low for me to get any action shots of the riders - but then again, I was spending a lot of my time while they were competing going "Ooooh!" "Whooooa!" "OUCH!!"

I went for the still life shots instead.

Blurred action shots can make pretty interesting abstracts.
You should see how a lot of my roller derby shots started.
Hell....a lot of them still turn out that way.

Something tells me "Oooh! Whooooa! OUCH!!" means they did something wrong....

I have some blurred roller derby shots myself - also where we were sitting caused the shots to be backlit too so the combination wasn't all that great.
Actually the "Ooooh!" "Whooooa!" "OUCH!!" were separate however sometimes they did get combined in that kind of "Holy crap! Whoooooa!! Look at the air he got! OUCH!! Oh, that was a bad landing." :P

Lovely warm light and great bokeh!
Just heard yesterday that Montreal's roller derby rink is not banked. Must be a challenge!

Jee Whiz! - The good roller derby is all flat track. :)

I didn't realize! They made it sound like a problem.

      Jee Whiz! Thank you!

armykat Jee Whiz! The one here in TO that I've been to before is flat track too.
Just curious why they think that's a bad thing??

Most race circuits are banked at the corners - car, cycle, whatever. Makes it easier to get around the corner without flying off.
