A crescent moon sets over the Columbia

A crescent moon sets 50 minutes after sunset over the Columbia River Gorge near Moiser, Oregon. Viewed from the Memaloose Overlook on the Historic Columbia River Highway (US 30), this 3 second exposure was the last before the moon started to disappear behind the mountain on the Washington side of The Gorge. I was headed out after sunset to shoot star trails over Mt. Adams. Driving west on I-84, I saw the spectacular crescent moon starting to set down The Gorge. Traveling as fast a legally allowed, I turned off a Moiser and tried first one overlook where the moon had already disappeared. Rushing on the the second overlook, I arrived just at the last moment to walk out to the point and set up the tripod. Next time, I'll try to plan the shot and get there earlier :)
