Fife Yacht on Plinth2
After a dreich morning drive to work in the January gloom the day gradually brightened to a glorious afternoon, so I stopped off at the village of Fairlie on the way home to take this picture.
It's taken about three weeks to get the sun in the right position with a clear sky for this image of the fine sculpture that commemorates the shipyard near this spot where the world-renowned luxury Fife Yachts were built for nearly 130 years. It was founder William Fife's intention to create boats that were "fast and bonnie" when he started building around 1803. His firm launched nearly 900 vessels here on the Firth of Clyde.
