Model A Coupe above Georgetown
My favorite photo from my early days. It was taken in about 1955 or 1956. The town below is Georgetown, Colorado. The quality of the photo is not very good, but the memories are.
Georgetown is situated in a little valley, between two mountains. It is one of my favorite places. This road goes off through the woods and mountains for miles and miles. It comes out in an entirely different part of the mountains near a town called Fairplay. There was a lot of snow on the road ahead and no other traffic. When the snow got too deep, I had to turn back.. It's kind of scary when you are off in the middle of nowhere in an old car like that. It always ran well, but you can't be certain with very old cars. However, I did a lot of this sort of thing. Just driving around on those old mountain roads in Colorado.
I guess this is what passed for vacations for me at that age.
