Ilima at f1.8
Just posting a pic from playtime with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 and an Ilima flower. I think I may start using primes a lot more. I love the physical aspect of your subject making YOU move around, instead of just turning the zoom ring. I haven't had much time to process other images to post - will be uploading some macro shots soon!
I'm starting to like the way the really shallow depth of field makes this scene look more like a painting - I like the way the bokeh (the way the lens blurs the out of focus area) looks in the highlights. Do you find the highlights too distracting or do you find them interesting?
I believe this lens has a 7-bladed aperture... unfortunately I think that the Nikon 50mm f1.4 also has 7 blades, so I would be getting the same results with that lens. Anyone care to chime in on bokeh on their 50mm's?
