Mauna Kea Summit Sunset
I recently had the opportunity to visit the 13,800-ft-tall Mauna Kea, which hosts some of the top observatories in the world. From left to right is the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory, James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (I'm observing on it in November!), Submillimeter Array, Subaru, Keck 1 and Keck 2, and NASA IRTF (infrared telescope facility).
The sunset here was absolutely spectacular--it went on for almost an hour. I filmed timelapse with one camera and shot still images with the other. This panorama is a 90-megapixel blend of 18 vertical images.
2016 edit: I re-processed the pano. Photoshop/ACR have come a long way since 2012!
