Bay Bridge Pano Night
I've wanted to shoot this photo since my freshman year, when I first discovered this angle while zooming around Google Earth. I've made several attempts to reach this spot over the years, but only was successful tonight. I took a bus from Berkeley to San Francisco and then another bus from San Francisco to Treasure Island, thereby avoiding the island's 45-minute parking limitations. I got off the bus at the usual spot on Treasure island and then hiked southeast along the road back toward the bridge. For the last quarter mile or so, there was no shoulder, so I alternated between jogging in the roadway and walking atop the hillside's 18-inch-wide retaining wall. After crossing directly over the bridge, I descended the incredibly-steep cliff face down to a small beach.
I set up my 7D to film timelapse and shot various other photos with my Rebel XT. This image is a panorama formed from 5 vertical images. Each component image was shot with my new 50mm f/1.4 and is insanely sharp. I want to get a huge print of this for my wall.
