Apple snail eggs are disgusting

Yesterday we drove through George Bush Park and I spotted these strange pink things on almost every vertical surface just clear of the waterline. From the road, they looked like styrofoam packing peanuts or giant pink slugs. Later we went back with Dale's camera.

On closer inspection, these things turned out to be clusters of eggs. Some Googling at home revealed that these are apple snail eggs, and probably the non-native species. These clusters were about an inch wide and several inches long, and they were hundreds and hundreds of them along the water in the flooded fields of the park.
