PASS 19-18 Participants Learn About the Origins, Rise of the Nazi Movement
MUNICH (Oct. 26, 2018) – About 90 participants from 44 countries learn about the origins and rise of the Nazi movement at the Munich Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism during a field study trip as part of the Marshall Center’s Program on Applied Security Studies Oct. 26. During the four-hour tour, the participants learned about the role Munich played in National Socialism. Munich is associated more than any other German city with the rise of National Socialism. They studied the origins of National Socialism and its ideology, how Adolf Hitler came to power, and why did democracy fail. They asked questions and held discussions on what led to exclusion, war and extermination, as well as how people can learn from the catastrophe of National Socialism. After the tour, some of the participants were able to spend a few hours exploring Munich. (DOD photo by Christine June/Released)
