Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) Explored
Another summer migrant to Northern Ireland. The Sedge Warbler winters in sub-Saharan Africa, from Senegal in the west to Ethiopia in the east, and as far south as the eastern Cape Province of South Africa and northern Namibia. It is good mimic, and introduces phrases into its song in random, with the males with the most varied call the most successful. I haven't heard as many around here this year, possibly due to the weather.
