Dunstanborough Castle

Dunstanborough is another of those outrageously romantic castles that dot the Northumberland coast

 

This one was built in 1320 and was owned originally by Prince Edward, Duke of Lancaster. It became a ruin in 1463, during the wars between the houses of York and Lancaster and has been crumbling away since to the delight of artists such as Turner, poets and photographers

 

This is a three shot stitch. It was taken about an hour after those Bamburgh sunrises I posted some weeks ago. I saw no others in this walk; Just me, the castle and the bleating of the sheep
