when will we move beyond cash and credit? : bury the ant under a hill of printed paper bills . . . (2013)

how come people don't meditate more and enjoy just doing nothing?

how much will be enough?

at what point will the "here now" of life be really "here"?

william blake was convinced that people chose to live in either heaven or hell.

he didn't believe that heaven and hell were geographical locations that one "went to after death",

but rather,

he believed that people were already in heaven or hell.

in his writings,

he talks about how he could see spirit forms when he was a child.

angels would hang out in the trees.

maybe you can, too.

maybe you can start to see the demons and figure out whether you're leaning on them.

there's still time for us to crawl out from under the crush.

*****

weezer was never one of my favorite bands. neither was green day. but damn if wavves doesn't make a compelling case for those two bands breeding and having little babies!!!!

this song has managed to worm its way into my brain over the past couple of months.

the lyrics are a little harsh, so please don't read them if you have sensitivities.

especially to guns.

in fact, i'd like to say that any use of the imagery of hand guns can cause a lot of pain and sorrow to people who have suffered from the loss than can come from an instrument that is intended to kill, not to protect.

however, we still persist in our metaphors and our poetry because some people do end up holding a gun to their head. and metaphorically, that's what the u.s. is doing.

we've been doing it since 2001

PRESS PLAY

demon to lean on

You and I pace along the grass

And think of what we had

Ambivalent and young

We're probably just dumb

The truth is that it hurts

And what's it really worth?

No hope and no future

Holding a gun to my head

So send me an angel

Or bury me deeply instead

With demons to lean on

In the sky, it's never coming back

No hope and no future

We'll die the same loser

Holding a gun to my head

So send me an angel

Or bury me deeply instead

With demons to lean on

Numb from it all

Not at all, at all, at all, at all

Numb from it all

Not at all, at all, at all, at all, at all

Holding a gun to my head

So send me an angel

Or bury me deeply instead

With demons to lean on

Holding a gun to my head

So send me an angel

Or bury me deeply instead

With demons to lean on

Holding a gun to my head

Holding a gun to my head

Holding a gun to my head

With demons to lean on
