BASTUD!!! (or horn worm...whichever you prefer)

    Newer Older

With the cooler than normal and early Spring, I've been lucky in the garden as far as bugs and critters go. That's beginning to change now, with the appearance of Tomato Hornworms. At least, with the plants being healthy, it makes it easier to spot these little devils by looking for eaten-on leaves. Even then, though, these little bastuds are hard to spot!

btw...on the photography side...although this was taken with a dedicated macro lens, this is NOT a macro shot...just a very close shot. If it were macro, you would only see, perhaps, the head of this caterpillar. Just sayin'...

Looks really good! But not so good for the tomatoes... You should have some bird to eat them up. A big bird :)

Agree!! They can make a lot of damages to tomato plants if left unfound..

I grew tomatos for the first time last year, so it was my first experience with the little creeps. They do make some interesting noises when you squish 'em, don't they? :-)

Really fine photography, even if I'm not overly fond of the subject.
