When we have a burial over 100 years ago and there is no memorial or fencing [bare ground], we are able to offer the plot to others by advertising its availability and if there is no response, we lease the plot to another person. We do, however, insist that when the new memorialisation is done, there be a plaque made up as to who had been previously buried here; for history sake. The plaque can be a separate small addition to the plot or the name etched on the stone surround of the new gravesite, as has been done here.
