The Pilgrim's Way

We left Edinburgh on an extremely misty Good Friday morning and made our way down the coast to Northumberland - the mist was so thick it made for some interesting driving on the smaller coastal roads!

We stopped at Lindisfarne on the way, but immediately realised that perhaps visiting Holy Island on Good Friday might not have been the best idea!

It was extremely busy, so parked up and opted for a quick shot of the posts that line 'The Pilgrim's Way'. The line of poles marks the path where people would have waded across the sands at low tide on pilgrimage to the abbey.
