Spain has saved millions of lives

A group of several supporters from European charity organizations spread a large banner on Plaza Major in the heart of the Spanish capital Madrid.

Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, joined representatives and supporters from development organizations in Madrid’s historic Plaza Mayor to stand in solidarity for Spanish overseas aid that has helped save millions of lives. They held a large banner displaying the message, “Espana Salva Millones de Vidas” to express pride in Spain’s continued efforts to aid the world’s poor.

Recently however, it has joined hands with Monsanto, DuPont , Bayer ,Cargill and other agri-biotech companies to push GM-research. Back in 2009, Tom Philpott wrote a piece urging Bill Gates not to endorse GMO but the sound advice has gone unheeded. Fast Company reports that the Gates Foundation has invested $11.9 million in research towards a Virus-Resistant Cassava strain for Africa.
