Aristea capitata
received as A. major but thats a synonym. Planted a 4" seedling in July 2010 from Annies Annuals. In May 2013 it bloomed a 4.5 foot tall stalk, the top foot covered with true blue flowers. The blue really is blue. My photography isnt true blue. These photos show the development of the bloom stalk. It expands. The slightly angled joints elongate. In full bloom it appears as if there are no branches on the stalk but there are sort of (sessile?) separate sets of buds that hint ant branching. Gotta look up the botanic terms for that.
