Rebus' Edinburgh

Been reading a lot of Scottish crime writers recently. This image sums up what Ian Rankin conjures up in my mind when I'm reading his Rebus books. :) Not high literature but a cracking read!! The dark underbelly of Edinburgh, so different from the disneyland image that most tourists see.

Taken from the top of Calton Hill. According to Rankin, the carpark outside the old observatory is bit of a dodgy spot at night where rent boys are picked up! So didn't know that until I read one of the books :) Edinburgh's long history also plays a big part in the books. 'A city whose streets have seen plenty of blood down the centuries'. Very true!
