Breaking Dawn [Explore #3]

    Newer Older

As you might have noticed, I haven't been out shooting the past couple of months. So, this morning, I set my alarm clock @ 4:30am, hoping to catch some awesome sunrise. Needless to say, I was greeted by some thick cloud with no sun in sight. But I would still take a nice cloudy day rather than a 100% clear sky any morning! This is my second morning to this location as this pier is facing perfectly to east and should have some beautiful sunrise (IF the weather holds up). I'm sure I'll be back soon, and hopefully the third time will be a charm for me....

Oh, one more thing! As much as I love my D7000 (it's great for everything from landscape to low light portrait), but it's "hot pixel" issue during long exposure is still bugging me!! I was one of the first person who complained about it's hot pixel issue about this time last year when it was first out. Nikon issued a firmware that improved it somewhat, but still not enough! Unless you are ok with hundreds plus hot pixel during long exposure!! I spent 5-10mins to process this photo from RAW to ready to post, but need to spend a good 10+mins just to clone out all the hot pixels that make this photo looks like it was shot on a snowy day!! :(

      Very nice work.

I also own a D7000 with whose performance I am very satisfied. Never tried to go for a exposure more than a few seconds, so I have no idea of what your complaint is referred to: should I investigate about it (firmware, etc.) or not unless I go for these very long exposures?

      Thank you in advance.
