Lake Powell at sunset hour

# 002 / ‘09

Sunset at Lake Powell, a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River, more than 400 feet deep, 186 miles long, is located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which includes the Colorado River corridor through Glen Canyon, the lower Escalante canyons, the lower San Juan River area, the lower Dirty Devil River area and the Orange Cliffs area adjacent to Canyonlands National Park. Much of this country was virtually inaccessible before the lake. The Orange Cliffs and other areas away from the lake still rank among the most remote spots within the continental United States.

This breathtaking landscape - extending into both Arizona and Utah - is like no other place on earth. Dramatic red rocks, shimmering sapphire water, with nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, Lake Powell surrounds you with spectacular canyons and towers.

There's nothing quite like a houseboat experience on Lake Powell. Imagine touring the magnificent Red Rocks and boating up the Colorado River into the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area straddling the border between Utah and Arizona. The views are amazing, surrounded by big rock canyons and towers on Lake Powell.

With a houseboat you are away from the busy marinas where you can enjoy boating and swimming in a private canyon surrounded by brilliant red cliffs. You can watch early morning sunrises with silhouettes cliffs reflecting on the mirror glass water. Or at night you can lie on the top deck and watch falling stars streak across the sky.

Boat on the River by Styx (Live)

Take me back to my boat on the river

I need to go down, I need to come down

Take me back to my boat on the river

And I won't cry out any more

Time stands still as I gaze In her waters

She eases me down, touching me gently

With the waters that flow past my boat on the river

So I don't cry out anymore

Oh the river is wide

The river it touches my life like the waves on the sand

And all roads lead to Tranquillity Base

Where the frown on my face disappears

Take me down to my boat on the river

And I won't cry out anymore

Oh the river is deep

The river it touches my life like the waves on the sand

And all roads lead to Tranquillity Base

Where the frown on my face disappears

Take me down to my boat on the river

I need to go down, with you let me go down

Take me back to my boat on the river

And I won't cry out anymore
