High visibility Motorway Operation on the M1 on Wenesday 11th December.
Garda Christmas Enforcement Campaign
As part of the Garda Christmas Enforcement campaign, DMR (Dublin Metropolitan Region) Traffic carried out a high visibility Motorway Operation on the M1 on Wenesday 11th December. This was one of a series of such road safety exercises planned in the lead up to Christmas.
The main objective of this operation is to increase the awareness of fatal and serious injury road traffic collisions. This Roads Policing Operation specifically targetted a number of road traffic offences including impaired driving, speeding, lane discipline and breaches of the Road Traffic Act with a view to detecting and deterring inappropriate driver behaviour.
Unfortunately at the M1 checkpoint a driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at 3 O'Clock in the afternoon. This is an immediate danger to all other road users. Never ever drink and drive.
