Overnight a poppy emerged
I love poppies. They just surprise me. Yesterday it was a bud and it literally bloomed over night.
I think it is their tie to our lost heros that never came home which was penned during the First World War by Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae that makes me love them more. They mark graves that their loved ones could never just go to visit on a Sunday, that they could go and care for or even leave a flower on. So, the poppy somehow takes on that role, watching over them making sure that we never forget them, leaving a flower as if to say 'we remember and we miss you'.
Of course, they love to be photographed as well which makes me smile.
