ATLANTA, June 29, 2010 – Georgia Army Guard Sgt. 1st Class Terry Harper, 78th Troop Command assistant Inspector General, is presented the Bronze Star Medal by Maj. Gen. Terry Nesbitt, Georgia’s Adjutant General, during the opening of the 2010 Southeast Regional Inspector General’s Conference.
Harper received the medal for her exceptional service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where she worked for the Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix as assistant Inspector general from June 2009 to March 2010.
The Bronze Star is a U.S. Armed Forces individual military decoration. It can be awarded for bravery, acts of merit or meritorious service. When awarded for bravery, the medal is the fourth-highest combat award. It is the ninth highest military award – including both combat and non- combat awards – in the order of precedence of U.S. military decorations.
When not serving her country in the Guard, Harper works as a school teacher in the Chatham County School system.
