Georgia Leadership
CLAY NATIONAL GUARD CENTER, Marietta, Ga. Jan 8, 2015 - Governor Nathan Deal stands with the leadership of Georgia’s Dept. of Defense during the official change of command ceremony for the state's adjutant and assistant adjutant generals.
Colonel Thomas Carden, far right, the incoming commander of Georgia’s Army National Guard will replace Brig. Gen. Joseph Jarrard, center right.
Jarrard takes the reins as the 42nd adjutant general from Maj. Gen. Jim Butterworth who transitions to GEMA as the agencies new director.
“This is a natural transition,” Deal said. “Both are in the business of ensuring the safety for the citizens of our state and together they will continue to be a great team.”
