Nylon Stockings, 1950s
The first use of Nylon fiber, developed in 1938, was as "artificial silk" stockings in 1942. During WWII all Nylon was used in war effort, and women craving for stockings had to wait the end of hostilities. In 1945 they finally returned to the market, causing long lines around department stores, havoc and riots and the police had to use force to control the mob.
These were made in Brazil in the 1950s, using DuPont 6.6 Nylon.
