Jean Henry Jean-Claude lies on the ground after being beaten in the head with the butt of a gun by the Haitian National Police
Jean Henry Jean-Claude was beaten in his head with the butt of a gun. Jean-Claude was one of the internally displaced people (IDPs) living at Camp Django in Delmas 17. The Office of the Mayor of Delmas offered people 5,000 gourdes ($125 US) to leave the camp this morning. People refused and began to protest this forced eviction. Agents of the Mayor of Delmas and the Haitian National Police arrived and began viciously beating some of the protestors. The basic human rights of Haiti's most vulnerable population - families of homeless earthquake survivors - are being violated by forced evictions without notice or relocation to adequate sites.
