Baikal seals (nerpas) are wild animals and it avoid contacts with human. So, it wasn't an easy task to take that picture. This seal-rookery is located in one of Ushkany island in the Lake Baikal. This is a nature reserve (closed to visits), but the local huntsmen kindly allowed me to photograph.

The place to monitor the seal is located over scrim some distance from the seal-rookery (about 70 meters) and Bigma (Sigma 50-500mm) was very useful. It's necessary to came to the scrim virtually all fours, so as not to make noise that could frighten the seals. In this picture the seal heard as I stepped on a dry twig.
